Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: These Wings from Sweet Ecstasy are a Must-have—Here’s Why

Chicken wings are a guilty pleasure of mine. It’s indulgent, deep-fried goodness, plus, it’s the kind of food that you need to eat with your hands—ladylike manners be damned.

But did you know that there’s an art to eating chicken wings? Take the L-shaped part of your wing, crack and remove the two bones in the top part, and you’re left with a chicken lollipop of sorts! I’ve learned about that hack recently, and it’s a game-changer.

The Ideal Chicken Wing

Ideally, good chicken wings need to have a crunchy exterior with a flavorful and generous glaze. The meat inside has to be tender and juicy—the kind that slides off the bone easily. And one of my new go-to options for wings? Sweet Ecstasy.

Although known for their burgers, I was drawn to their wings more—primarily because of my promise to never eat beef for life. And because I was in love with their crispy and airy chicken skin. It wasn’t rich and heavy unlike most wings, and they looked huge cause of the coating!

Of Chicken Wings and Sides

While they had different flavors to choose from, we opted for 3 flavors: the Sriracha Lime, Buffalo, and Soy Honey.

Sriracha Lime: features a mild spicy kick with a subtle sweetness. The lime added a acidic contrast to the wings, making them easy to eat, even on its own. This was my favorite out of the three!

Buffalo: sour and spicy, as buffalo wings should be. It’s slightly spicier compared to the Sriracha Lime, but it had a more sour note after the heat. Best paired with the garlicky aioli dip.

Soy Honey: a sticky sweet kind of chicken wing with subtle umami notes. Not spicy at all and a favorite among my sisters who can’t take the heat.

But what’s wings without sides? These are what we chose:

Ecstasy Fries: classic french fries topped with a signature sauce. I’m guessing mayonnaise, ketchup, and pickles—kind of like a thousand island dressing but with some sour-sweetness to it.

Onion Rings: my favorite one of all. They’re huge slices of onions coated in a fluffy but crunchy breading before being deep-fried to a golden brown. Best paired with the aioli sauce.

Pickle Fries: very tangy pickles coated in batter and fried. The taste is a bit strong, so eat it sparingly.
